Fall :) (aka the best time of year)

Hello!  It certainly has been a while since I’ve posted on the blog (no one ever said college would be THIS time consuming!).  Classes are going well, I’m taking chemistry, biology, german and writing on the environment.  The professors are great and so are the people.  Our Fall rowing season is also in full swing with practices every day and races every weekend.  The girls on the team are really great and I love every moment of being there.  College also never fails to surprise me with new, non sport/academic related experiences too, some fun, some not so much.  This past weekend was great because not only did I get to have my first race for crew, but I got to spend time with my whole family.  My parents came up for the weekend along with my aunt and little cousin.  After the regatta we came back to campus to have a look around campus and then went out for a dinner.  My parents headed home after that but I stayed with my cousin and aunt in a bed and breakfast nearby for the night.  I’m not experiencing bad homesickness (I am having some but it isn’t that bad…) but it was really nice to see my family and to spend time with them. This coming week is also the start of our fall break!  I will be on campus with the rest of my team for our fall training camp but it will be a welcome break from school work.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful Fall, I know I am!

5 Days and Olympics Hangover

5 days left, it’s crunch time!  I just sent about ten billion emails to every department on campus that exists to get some information for this week.  Today I also watched the olympic basketball final and the closing ceremony.  And as I sit here typing this, I’m thinking to myself: what am I going to do with myself for my last ever 5 days before college?  Now that the olympics are over my life will have no excitement (except for my surprise event on thursday…any guesses to what it is??).  Seriously, every night I say “just 15 more minutes of olympics and then I’ll go to bed” but I say that multiple times before it actually works and the next morning (for the past 17 days) I wake up with olympics hangover.  However, there is packing to be done and many things to do, time to start being productive again.  So congratulations to every athlete that participated in the 2012 London Olympics, especially team USA.  You inspire me, you motivate me and you never cease to amaze me.  Good luck in Rio!
