Spring? Is that you????

Well, we’re starting to see some more sunshine here in central New York, which is a relief…I think my extremities are STILL thawing out from the long winter!  My rowing team took a two week training trip to Florida to kick -off our spring season and let me tell you, it was not easy coming back from 80 degree weather to a foot of snow on the ground.  In fact, this winter has been particularly brutal.  Usually when the team comes back from Tampa they are able get right on the water (which is a good thing because there’s only one week from the time we come back to our first race, yikes!!), but this year there was still ice on the river and except for groups that went to unload the trailer and break up ice, nobody went to the boathouse during the first four days back.  We were lucky enough to get out for a short row on friday, the day before we raced.  The first weekend back we headed  to another school in NY on Saturday and to a school in Boston on Sunday for a solid weekend of racing.  We were luck enough to get some time on the water this past week and we concluded the week with another tough weekend of racing.  For me, the race this weekend was a chance to see my family, which is always nice.  And although the weather was very cold and wet for all three races so far, I can say one thing for sure: I love racing as a part of this team.  The other girls are great, and so are the coaches.  I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season brings!

In other news, it’s supposed to be 72 degrees here tomorrow!! WOO HOO!!!!!  Then again, it snowed today so I’ll believe it when I see it.  Classes are good and I think I’ve got the hang of managing a college work load.  I also just got accepted to be an on campus EMT for my school and I’m SO excited.  That means that this summer I’ll get to take an EMT class and when I get back to campus I’ll be able to start work as part of their agency.  One of my best friends from high school also got accepted to me an EMT so It’ll be really good to share the experience with her.  At this point I’m also picking classes for next semester (I have a pretty good registration time!) and I now know where I’ll be living next year!

So as the days get longer and (hopefully) warmer, I wish everyone a happy, healthy, springy spring!  Only one more month until summer vacation (and the end of my first year of college…….um…..wut??)!!

Cheers!

P.S. In case it ISN’T looking like spring in wherever you are reading this from, here’s a picture of me in a snow storm.
